Who is Smith and Evelyn?
They are both family names. Smith is my grandmother’s maiden name and we spent a lot of time together when I was little. Evelyn is one of my grandfather’s sisters. He and I were very close. I wanted to create a name that made me happy everytime I saw it or spoke of it. Cheers to amazing grandparents who make your childhood unforgettable!
What should I do to prepare?
Honestly, you just need to show up! But if you insist, make sure you schedule your personal grooming appointments no less than 3-4 days before your session. Please no spray tans. No color is as flattering as your natural color! Remember, you will also receive information on some do’s and don’ts before your session in the Prep Packet.
I like your images but what if I wanted to get a little risque?
Ok. Let’s do it. I traditionally shoot more on the conservative side but I love a client that is willing to push some boundaries! Again, this is about you and what makes you feel your most sexy. However, I do have a firm policy that no explicit nudity and no pelvic area whatsoever will be visible in any of my work. There is a difference between edgy boudoir photography and erotica/pornography, and it’s one that I will not cross, no exceptions.
Can I have someone with me at my session?
I feel that the sessions are more powerful and intimate when it is just you and me behind the camera, but that being said I totally get that sometimes you need a familiar face to be your hype girl. If want a friend to hang in the corner and shout out “Damn, girl” every once and a while then by all means bring that friend. As far as making sure your makeup looks perfect, that a stray tag isn’t showing, or that you don’t have anything in your teeth – I got your back for those things. It is my job to make you look comfortable, sexy, and totally confident and I take it seriously. I also do not allow significant others at the session. Even if you started this process thinking these photos were for that person, by the end you will see that this really is all about you loving you!!
How much can you “edit out” or photoshop?
Okay, so here’s the most important part of my photography philosophy. There will be light touch ups but no altering of you. That means no photoshop! I am a firm believer in this process and showing you a true version of yourself that you love and I want you to know 100% that it is really you. If you have a bruise or a pimple, don’t worry they will disappear. Scars and tattoos are part of you and your story as well as the shape, tone, and texture of your body -- let’s make them beautiful and something to be celebrated, too.
Will you use my images on your website/blog/portfolio?
I would love to have the privilege of showing off your amazing images! I only share what you give me permission to share. When we schedule your session we will both sign a contract that protects both your privacy as a client and my work as an artist.
Where are your sessions held?
I shoot out of Airbnbs and hotels here in Sarasota and beyond. I love the variety and excitement of shooting in varying locations, plus this ensures that each session is unique and one of a kind. After booking, details and location will be sent to you in our “Smith and Evelyn Session Prep Packet”.
Traveling? Planning a trip and want a destination shoot? I love to travel – just contact me and we can discuss details.
What do I wear?
Whatever you want! If you need a good excuse to buy something sexy, do it! T-shirts, heels, lacy panties, favorite jacket, an old jersey, or anything else are all perfect options. This is all about you and what makes you feel sexy! After you have booked a session, you will receive a session prep packet of more examples on what to wear and how to prepare for your session.
How far in advance should I book my session?
A general guidelines is about two or three months out from when you want to receive your investment pieces. This allows time for edits (but no airbrush – remember you are freaking fabulous as you are!), your photo reveal, and time for your album/items to be shipped and delivered on time.
Do I have to be nude to do a boudoir session?
Of course not! Remember – my job is to help you see your true beauty and the most beautiful thing in the world is confidence. We won’t find that confidence together if you are uncomfortable with anything happening during your shoot. This is all about you doing you in what makes you feel beautiful and sexy. However, don’t be surprised if by the end of the shoot you’ve ending up showing a little more skin than you thought you would be comfortable with. It happens all the time and it’s one of my favorite parts of the job – seeing that confidence grow minute by minute.
Do you photograph men?
Sorry boys, not for boudoir. I specialize in the female form. Elopements or destination engagements are the only time men are in front of my camera.
